Inscription and autograph of President Abraham Lincoln given to Charles Marshall Austin. It says, "Charley, Long live the self-made young men of our Regenrated glorious republic. A.L."
The inscription is on white paper and separated by an American flag. Lincoln has also initialed it twice.
Two ambrotype (?) photos of Lincoln are included--one portrait style and one in profile. Lincoln looks considerably aged and haggard.
Also included: Dec. 17, 1863 Pass from the War Dept. Adjutant General's Office in Washington, D.C addressed to Charles Austin, Clerk so that he may travel to and from the War Dept. from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
