Summary |
History and lore of the Royal Arch from a British point of view. From the sleeve: "Based on up-to-date research, it has a scope wider than any other known book on the subject. The opening sections trace the growth of the ceremony until its general adoption in the eighteenth century as an acepted degree. These early sections contain much matter that will be new to all but the well-read and serious student. Later chapters explain the effect on the furtunes of the Order of two strong Grand Lodges in opposition to each other. The birth of the present Supreme Grand Chapter (curator's note: e.g. in England) is related, and the rise and derivation of familiar masonic terms are explain... Towards the close of the volume it deals with the growth and development of ritual, and there are many sections on symbolism and related subjects..." |
