Description |
Urn-shaped vase. Blue-grey hue ceramic with trees. According to the original entry, this vase was made especially for display at the 1939-1940 International Exposition on Treasure Island in San Francisco as a part of the Czechoslovakian exhibit. When war prevented the return of the exhibit to Czechoslovakia, the items were sold and this vase was acquired by a professor at the University of California (curator's note: we can assume the U.C. campus was Berkeley). Bro. Lernhardt learned of the vase and prevailed upon the professor to sell it to him. While the professor was not a Mason, he agreed to the deal when Lernhardt explained to him why he wanted to purchas the vase. The vase was given to the Grand Lodge on the occasion of the dedication of the California Masonic Memorial Temple in 1958. |
